

FLAC file format is used to save audio data. This file format is generally used for lossless compression of audio data.
The codec on the basis of which this audio data storage and compression takes place is also known as FLAC. The compression of audio data using FLAC codec results in about 50 percent decrease in the size of the file. This file format can support the bit resolution of 4 to 32 bits per sample. The file also contains metadata tag which allows it to add information related to encoding, decoding and ReplayGain. There are different compression levels of the file ranging from 0 to 8.
