OSM file is related with OpenStreetMap software application. This application allows development of editable world maps.

The details of the map are stored in map files which are given the extension of OSM. These files contain information of all the elements which are added in a map of a specific place. The file can be edited easily and therefore can contain all the available information related to geography and topology of the specific area. These files are then stored by the navigation devices and then can be used for travelling and navigation purposes. The data stored in these files can be used by multiple applications.
