AutoCAD software application is used to design 3D objects and 2D drawings. In order to print these 3D objects or 2D drawing AutoCAD requires some settings.

These settings for plotting or printing the output is stored in PLT file format. This file stores the information related to color depth, vector print quality, media type and many other plotter settings. These preferences or settings for plotting the file can be stored by the user for later use and when they are stored they are saved as PLT files. This file is used to define all the parameters which are used for printing any AutoCAD file.
