MWB file format is used for MySQL Workbench document. MySQL Workbench software is used for data modelling, server configuration, backup, SQL development and user administration.

The user performance on the MySQL Workbench is stored as a document file which contains the source code which can either be compiled to work as a standalone script or can be a part of the main script. The document file only contains the user added features and elements in the file and therefore is only used to store the source code written by the user. All of this is done visually rather than writing a code.
